Quezon City will not be a friendly city to speedsters. If in the days of old you can try doing 140 kph along Commonwealth when it’s deserted (or otherwise), you won’t be able to do that today. Not with the 60 kph speed limit.

While some other roads are just a bit more forgiving in terms of speeding, (like that stretch from Libis to Katipunan where I can still see speedsters blasting their cars at over 100 kph) that might not be the case for long.

QC Mayor Herbert Bautista announced that he has mobilized the city’s Department of Public Order and Safety (DPOS) to make recommendations as to which other roads can benefit from a similar 60 kph speed limit. Initial targets are Mindanao Ave. and Quezon Ave. A lower speed limit is targeted for Elliptical Road.

I just don’t get why all of a sudden, there’s this move to “create” speed limits. Don’t we have a default speed limit set for all our roads anyway? It’s all a matter of law enforcement. I just hate the fact that well-connected or important people  need to die before the government acts.
