If you’re going to review the traffic laws in this country, a lot of vehicles and drivers should be getting fines and whatnot. Here’s the Philippine National Police with their latest intensified campaign – cracking down on vehicles with illegal foglamps mounted on them. According to the PNP, these high-intensity foglamps can cause blindness to oncoming vehicles and they are considered illegal.

Are they joking? Quite frankly, I haven’t seen many cars with these so-called illegal fog-lamps. I see those mostly on jeepneys and owner-types. And they’re ornamental too. But what I encounter mostly when driving at night would be those cars with after-market trying-hard HID lights.

I mean the stock light on high-beam’s already annoying but these bastards with HIDs just love to put them on and on high. Indiscriminate bastards. It’s not like they need that bright a light for visibility. If they’re night-blind, they shouldn’t be on the road in the first place.

So I don’t get why the PNP’s going for foglamps. It’s the HID crowd that they should be cracking down on.
