It’s amazing how the Koreans are really taking the automaking fight worldwide. Probably why they come in droves here to study English – to be able to sell cars elsewhere. But I wonder what good will that do once they take on the rest of the non-UK European market.

Anyway, here’s Kia’s Pro_Cee’d. The Pro_Cee’d is it’s hotter version of the Cee’d next generation which Kia plans to rival the likes of the Volkswagen Golf GTi.

Now, the standard Cee’d hasn’t been sold (yet) here but it’s basically a sporty five-door family car marketed primarily in Europe. So far, the only Kia cars that we have right here are the Rio, the Forte, and the Soul but with the Hyundai i20 now available, maybe it’s just a matter of time before the Cee’d gets sold here. (For you Top Gear fans, you might know the standard Cee’d as the reasonably-priced car.)

The car is powered by a new direct-injection 1.6L gasoline engine that dishes out 200 bhp. Now that’s pretty hot for a car and engine that small. Still getting over the fact that the once-laughable badge on the Pride is now found on hot cars.

The Pro_Cee’d is set to be unveiled at the Frankfurt motor show in 2013 as part of Kia’s update cycle. A new Rio and a new Optima are schedule to precede (Pre_Cee’d? Hehe…) the unveiling of the new Cee’d. A new Carens is scheduled to be released after as well.
