Plenty of British cars are just outside our consciousness here in the Philippines but here’s a car that’s quite interesting – the Jensen Interceptor. Fans of Top Gear would probably remember the car featured in of the episodes last series which Clarkson reviewed as a pretty car with a killer name but was built quite shoddily.
A firm’s now trying to revive the car. The car will be resurrected as a four-seater grand tourer with an all-new aluminum chassis and body. The design will still be reflective of the old car’s design with a few updates for the modern world. The final look will be unveiled in 2012 and will be made available to customers by 2014.
Much like old car revivals, the new Interceptor will have a limited production run and a sizable price tag so that probably eliminates any chance to see one prowling Philippine streets. I doubt if even those rich collectors would consider getting a revival car with an obscure name.
The Interceptor original’s production ran fromĀ 1966 to 1976.
