The Ford Focus has been the definitive family hatchback worldwide. In a country where Toyotas, Mitsus, and Hondas are the go-to car marquees for family cars, the Focus has managed to gain a solid footing in the market. Now, even the Fiesta and their large SUVs have managed to attract customers as well.

For us here, we only have the sedan and the 5-door hatch being sold. Elsewhere, in the UK, in particular, the Focus has a wagon (estate) model for those who really need a car for family use. Now I wonder why we wagon versions aren’t really that popular here.

Practicality is a huge concern for us and that extra trunk space in the rear. For the Focus Estate, that’s 200 mm in length and 100 mm in girth that’s added to the hatch space, translating to a 1,502 liters of space.

The 2012 Focus Estate is powered by the same engine lineup for the hatch. In the UK, that includes the 1.6L TDCi model which promises both power and CO2 emissions (something that we really don’t care about since we don’t get charged emission charges.)
