2017 Honda Civic Type R Concept

Here’s the upcoming 2017 Honda Civic Type R Concept unveiled at the ongoing Paris Motor Show. Boy is it the sportiest Civic we’ve seen to date save perhaps for those decked out rice rocket Civics.

It’s a mean looking SOB. The aggressive lines of the new Civic is there but it’s been made to look a tad meaner with the body kit. Up front, the car sports the red “H” badge and Type R insignia. The front also features carbon fiber splitter and the fascia boasts of mesh covered intakes. The hood also features a scoop in the middle.

At the rear, the car sports a diffuser and below at the center are dual exhausts. Red accent lines trace the bottom of the body kit. The car sits atop 20-inch rims enveloped by 245 high performance rubber.

No confirmation yet on what will power the car but if we take previous model, the current Civic variants, and the hood scoop, it’s likely to have a turbocharged engine. We just hope that it’s the 2.0L that’s going to be turbocharged. The previous R model packed 306 horses.

We’re sure Honda fans will be quite interested if this will wash up on our shores but with the way Honda is bringing in models, it may be likely that this may be available from dealerships. The new Civic was launched a few months ago and the sportiest model that can be had locally is the 1.5 Turbo RS Modulo Sport which packs the 171 hp 1.5L turbo engine priced at PhP 1.51 million.
