W Motors Lykan Hypersport a first for UAE
First attempts, especially in the world of automaking, are typically funky. But if you all the oil in the world and tons of money to burn, then you can go for the whole shebang, skip the baby steps and build a hypercar. That’s what the Arabs did with the W Motors Lykan Hypersport.
The car sports a twin-turbo flat six Porsche engine tuned by the bonkers from Ruf. That generates a massive 740 bhp and 737 lb-ft of torque. 0 to 100 kph is achieved in just 2.8 seconds and top speed places it really in hypercar territory going all the way to 245 mph (394.3 kph).
The car doesn’t look off either. It does have an Italian design that one can see in the likes of Lamborghini. For some real middle eastern luxury, the interior has been lined with diamonds, gold and platinum.
Fancy one? It’s just US$3.4 million (aroung Php 138M) and all 7 units have already been sold. Though W Motors have been generous enough to throw in a Cyrus Kelpcys watch to go with the car.
W Motors was founded in July 2012 and in less than a year’s time, they were able to come out with the car. But that’s mainly because they were able to tap industry bigs like Magna Steyr Torino for the design and Ruf for the engine tuning.
Which leads us to ask, when will Filipinos get ours? It’s been decades since we did something with the army jeep and turned it into public transport. Would be nice if we attempted something more than tuning.
